Hummingbird Nest Ranch

Hummingbird Nest Ranch is absolutely gorgeous. But here’s what a lot of people don’t understand when they fall in love with it: it comes empty.

It’s not a hotel. There are no tables, no chairs, no forks, knives, spoons or cups. There’s no air conditioning and none of the basic things you take for granted at a hotel. You’re literally paying for the land. Everything else, you bring in yourself, including power, tents and generators.

People usually miscalculate how much work that is. Every single thing that shows up on a hotel event for free has to be rented, delivered, set up and taken down.

Then there’s the weather. The setup day is usually super hot, because you’re outdoors and in the mountains. So you need a florist who brings a cooler for the flowers, and the flowers only go out at the very last minute.

At Hummingbird Nest Ranch, you’re paying for the land. Everything else, you bring.

And here’s the craziest part. Even if it was super hot all day, you need to bring heaters, because at night it gets super cold.

The other thing nobody tells you about is noise control. There’s a limit at night, and rangers keep telling you to lower the music based on the decibel level of the speakers. It kind of sucks, because it’s hard to have a really good time when someone keeps asking you to turn it down. So if you’re picturing a party that goes all night, keep that in mind. It’s a stunning venue. Just go in knowing exactly what it takes.
