Event Planner vs. Day-of Coordinator

“We already planned everything, we just need someone for the day.” I hear this all the time, for weddings and mitzvahs, and I get it. But let me tell you something: day-of coordination is not just the day of.

An event planner is with you from the beginning. We build the vision, the design and the vendor team. We handle the contracts, the budget and the timeline, and every decision in between. By the time your event day comes, we know every detail because we built it.

A day-of coordinator comes in at the end, usually a few weeks before. They collect everything you’ve already done: the vendor contracts, the timeline, the floor plan. Then they run the day. They don’t build anything. They carry out a plan that already exists.

And here’s the part people don’t realize. To run your event properly, a coordinator has to learn the whole thing in a few weeks. Every vendor, every arrival time, every family situation. That’s not one day of work.

Day-of coordination is not just the day of. Nobody can walk into your event cold and run it well.

Not sure how to say this nicely, but there’s no such thing as a good day-of coordinator for $1,500. If someone is really learning your whole event, confirming every vendor and running your day, that takes real time and experience, and it’s priced accordingly.

So which one do you need? If you’re still building your wedding or mitzvah and want someone to carry it with you, you need an event planner. If you’ve truly planned everything yourself and just need professionals to take over the final stretch, that’s what The Closing Chapter is for. We come in thirty days before and take it from there. Just know that a coordinator can’t go back and fix what was never planned.
